What's The Difference Between Schlüter-DITRA-HEAT and Schlüter-DITRA-HEAT-DUO?

Schluter DITRA HEAT DUO

Schlüter-DITRA-HEAT-DUO features a 2mm anchoring fleece on the underside, which reduces impact sound and enables a faster heat-up response. It ensures that the bulk of the heat (approximately 80%) is channelled directly toward the tiled floor in the heat-up phase, which makes the tangible heat effect much quicker. It’s ideal for situations where heat is needed quickly and for a short amount of time.

What is Schlüter-DITRA-HEAT used for?

It’s a surface heating system, most commonly used under tiled floors. It’s all about comfort and cosy, warm feet! One of the benefits is that you can choose exactly where the heating cables are laid so you’re not heating unnecessary parts of the floor that you’ll never walk on. Schlüter-DITRA-HEAT can also be used for heating tiled walls too, which can be handy underneath robe hooks or towel rails where towels will be drying.

The Versatility of Schluter Ditra Heat

The purpose of Schluter Ditra Heat extends far beyond just providing warmth to your floors. Here's how it serves various functions:

  • Radiant Heating

At its core, Schluter DITRA HEAT is designed to deliver radiant floor heating, which is widely regarded as one of the most comfortable and energy-efficient heating methods available. By radiating heat evenly from the floor surface upwards, DITRA HEAT creates a cosy and consistent warmth throughout the room, eliminating cold spots and maximising comfort.

  • Uncoupling and Waterproofing

Similar to traditional Schluter Ditra, Ditra Heat serves as an uncoupling membrane, absorbing substrate movement to prevent cracks in the tiled surface above. Additionally, it acts as a waterproofing membrane, providing an extra layer of protection against moisture infiltration. This dual functionality ensures not only a comfortable indoor environment but also long-term durability and resilience.

  • Energy Efficiency

Schluter Ditra Heat is renowned for its energy efficiency. By heating the floor directly, it minimizes heat loss and reduces energy consumption compared to traditional heating systems that rely on heating the air. This not only translates to cost savings but also contributes to a greener, more sustainable home environment.

  • Quick and Easy Installation

Despite its advanced features, Schluter Ditra Heat is remarkably easy to install. The integrated heating cable snaps securely into the uncoupling membrane, eliminating the need for additional adhesives or fasteners. This simplifies the installation process, reducing labour costs and ensuring a faster turnaround time for your flooring project.
